Over 500,000 insulin pumps are in use around the world, yet no formal guidelines regarding pump settings, safety features, and use have been adopted by the diabetes clinical community and pump manufacturing industry.
This slideshow (http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_presentations/PropInsPumpManufStand-0909.html) presents a preliminary set of guidelines for standards and recommended pump practices. Most of these cannot be integrated into current insulin pumps, but we recommend that they be seriously considered for all new pump models.
All suggestions you have for improvements, additions, or deletions are welcomed.
