I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem, and what helped...

I recently switched to a Cozmore from a Minimed. I'm told the Silhouette infusion sets that I had are incompatible with the Cozmore. So, I got the Cleo sets and I'm wasting them pretty fast. I'm using 2-3 each time I try to put them on. Here's what's happening: I push it until the needle pokes out and then retracts. Then, I try to pull the insertion device off. The problem is, the infusion set won't detach from the inserter. Every time, I have had to take it off, pry away the actual infusion set, and try to put it in the fresh hole and make it stick. The last thing I tried was using IV Prep to make my skin sticky, hoping the infusion set would stick to my skin better than to the inserter. That didn't work. Any suggestions?

With the Cleo, be sure to put a slight bit of pressure on the inserter for about 10 seconds before pulling the inserter off. The adhesive works better if it has a little time to react with your skin or with IV Prep.

A good alternative option is to use Comfort infusion sets. These are identical to the Silhouette sets but have a luer lock connection that works with the Cozmo. They tend to work better for most people.

Best,
John

I tried as long as 25 seconds, and still not working. I have a hard time manually sticking such a big needle in me. Are there any other infusion sets with an inserter that work with the Cozmo pump?

Look at the needle carefully because it is no larger than any other. People who use it find they cannot even feel the needle because nerves are distracted by the surrounding ring of adhesive. Have you called Cozmo about this problem?

For a good alternative, try the straight-in Inset set from Animas – it is dependable and works very well for most people. Like any set, be sure to anchor the infusion line after inserting!
