what would make your blood sugar stay low all of a sudden even without the metformin? I had to fast for 1 day and at the end of the fast my BS dropped to 46, since then it hasn't been above 130 and i stopped taking meds because it makes my Bs go to low. its now been a month with no meds and everything seems ok. what gives? can your body heal itself? was I mis diagnosed? I'm confused.

It is confusing, I'm a mechanic and not a Doc, yet yes to your questions. The body can do anything, if we will alow it to do so and not get intoit's way, IMHO

Particularly in early Type 2, fasting even a day can let your beta cells recover sufficiently to regain momentum. Sort of like feeling great after you catch up on your missed sleep on a weekend! Beta cell weakness is made worse by glucose toxicity where the daily demands of eating pile more work on the BCs and don't let them regain strength. Sorry but this is not a real cure, more of a temporary honeymoon, so enjoy but keep testing!
Never fast without talking to your doctor if you take insulin or a glucose lowering drug like one of the sulfonylureas. Your hypo could get more serious than just 46.

Did you talk with your doctor about your levels and going off the meds? The body can do mysterious and strange things that can't be explained. Of course, you could also have been misdiagnosed like you said but I think you need to talk with your doctor to know what is going on.
