I love my Treo (smart phone) and it does just about everything for me. Contacts, notes, occasional pictures, music... it's amazingly versatile. And there are many Palm OS-based software products that help diabetics. Sadly, with so many Treos out there, there's no Treo-based glucometer. Theoretically, it would be easy.

Treo's have a SD memory slot that offers up low power based on the Treo's battery. The slot could also allow access to show the glucometer's interface on the the screen. Freestyle Meters have historically had the best luck with converging devices. In the past, they had a Palm OS product that worked with the now dead Handspring platform. It was a little module that plugged into the back of it and it accepted a strip, and you'd do all the same functions that you'd normally do -- but without having to carry your meter. Brilliant, right? Sadly, you couldn't buy the module without buying a brand new Handspring (like $399 or something like that)... and I already had a Handspring.

Freestyles are already little items on Deltec Cosmo pumps and work in a similar manner as the above. But for professionals that rely on their Treos for work and play, why not rely on it for testing their sugars and having a better log book solution that doesn't force you to have to manually enter anything?
