Select An Infusion Set

Pump reservoir and infusion set

There are a number of things to consider when selecting an infusion set such as:

  • How much subcutaneous (fat) tissue do you have?
  • What infusion sites will you use?
  • If you have never used the abdomen (preferred site) before for injections, will using it for the pump site be a problem?
  • Are metal needles as comfortable for you as Teflon sets?
  • Will you need a device to aid with insertion of the infusion set?

Fortunately, there are a wide variety of infusion sets available for most pumps. If possible, try different infusion sets to determine which is most comfortable and easiest for you to use. An informed decision can avoid an investment in several boxes of infusion sets that may not be appropriate. It can also have a great impact on the satisfaction you get out of pumping.

See our Infusion Set comparison page to learn more about the various sets available.
