Integrated Applications - GlucoTrack
Integrity Applications Ltd. is based in Ashkelon, Israel. From what we can see, they’ve been working on the GlucoTrack since 2003.
GlucoTrack
Integrity Applications has developed a non-invasive blood glucose monitor. This monitor uses 3 technologies to get a blood glucose measurement: ultrasound, conductivity, and heat capacity.
GlucoTrack hopes to remove the two most significant barriers to frequent monitoring of blood glucose: pain and cost. While we’ll have to wait to see if the cost is truly affordable, they’ve eliminated the pain by using an ear clip sensor. The rest of the device is just a main unit which contains display and control features, as well as transmitter, receiver and processor. It looks like it is small, but we don’t have official measurements yet. (See prototype below)

GlucoTrack is intended for use by Type 1 or Type 2 diabetics, gestational diabetes as well as patients with pre-diabetics, or Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT). It can be shared with up to 3 patients, but each patient requires their own ear clip.
Integrated Applications plans for the GlucoTrack to hit the European Market in 2010 and the US market about a year later.
Here’s some interesting notes from their FAQ:
- GlucoTrack performs three independent measurements simultaneously, each based on a different technology. The results are correlated and averaged, using a patented, unique algorithm. Then the final result is displayed on a large LCD and memorized.
- GlucoTrack supports up to three users by a single device. However, since the measurement is calibrated individually, a Personal Ear Clip (PEC) should be used by each user. Different colors of grips are available, in order to distinguish between PECs.
- Re calibration of the individual ear clip is required every month. GlucoTrack will remind you in advance about the need to re calibrate. The calibration process is very simple, takes about 1.5 hours and can be done at home (although recommended to be done in the clinic). GlucoTrack uses USB port to connect with your personal computer or other storage device for back up and analysis measurements data. GlucoTrack uses our unique “Just Clip and Click™” method: you simply clip your Personal Ear Clip (PEC) to your earlobe, click the OK button and get a reading. Re calibration required only once a month. You can take it off and on as much as you like.
- GlucoTrack requires no disposables. However, the Ear Clip required to be replaced every 6 months.
